DIY Lobster Shack!

It was Jennifer's sister Erika's birthday this week so we decided to turn the house into a windswept
beach cabin hideaway for a 3 course lobster feast. We purchased a bunch of fabrics from Hamid at
Ridley Road Market (if you're not buying from Hamid, your being ripped off) to make a red drenched
private dining room complete with lanterns made from polystyrene cups and kitchen wisks and lobster
themed place mats. I made the 4:30 AM pilgramge to Billingsgate with one thing on my mind: LOBSTERS

There were 7 of us dining so I bought 10 lobsters in total. 3 were used in the first and secong course.

THE MENU

FIRST COURSE : LOBSTER BISQUE WITH COGNAC AND CREAM, GARLIC TOAST

SECOND COURSE : LOBSTER SPAGHETTI WITH GARLIC, CHILI AND PROSECCO

THIRD COURSE : WHOLE LOBSTER (COLD) WITH GARLIC BUTTER, FRITES & ROCKET SALAD

It was all soundtracked by a special beachcomber mix featuring Arthur Lyman, Rod McKuen and Eden Ahbez.

The meal was truly incredible, the ambience was magical and we all forgot where we we're for the night.

Next time we'll have to invite Lekiddo!!

FM RADIO HUMAN BINGO ON BICYCLES? YES MA'AM!

Legs 11: A Rolling Observational Bingo is part of Artsadmin’s Two Degrees Festival
(www.artsadmin.co.uk/twodegrees), a week of art and activism, climate and cuts, taking place from 12-18 June 2011.

How much time do we spend in London getting from A to B? We travel to and from work on
crowded buses and trains as the city passes us by. They say that the journey is half the fun,
but have we lost sight of the magic that can happen along the way?

The House of Hot Breath is inviting people to embark on a journey of discovery on a pedal powered
observational bingo game. Armed with transistor radios, bingo dabbers and a keen eye, the
contestants in the 15 strong chain gang will play bingo by discovering the clues within the journey
itself. The aim is to illustrate what we gain by travelling by bicycle and how it is not only a healthier,
greener alternative, but it also opens our eyes to our environment and how we take on information
and inspiration from our surroundings.

Legs 11 will leave The Arcola in Dalston at 2pm and make its way to Artsadmin at
Toynbee Hall in Whitchapel. It is then scheduled to return back to the Arcola at 4pm.

It it limited to 15 riders/players per journey.

Artsadmin’s Two Degrees festival is a week of art and activism, climate and cuts. Following the first festival in 2009, Two Degrees 2011 takes place from 12-18 June in and around Artsadmin’s Toynbee Studios home. The events in the festival sit between art and activism – from a day of bike-themed art projects in collaboration with Arcola Theatre, to an artist-run hair salon exchanging haircuts for conversations, to a pop-up restaurant aiming to help eradicate the American Signal Crayfish from the UK. Two Degrees is a chance to join in, take part and make your voice heard.

Two Degrees is supported by the European Commission Culture Programme
and by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
